The Beatdown in The Washington Post Express (Again!)

The write up is a lil strange! How they only gonna mention me, AP and Mastermind DJ?! And put a pic of AP? Hahaha. Classic. Anyways, press is press. See ya there tonite

Beat Week

These pics are from Red Bull and Aineken @ The Beatgrinder doing live art of Betty Davis.
Yo, I was at the Red Bull Big Tune and Beatgrinder last night at 930 Club and Liv, respectively. I gotta say the Red Bull joint looked nice aesthetically but the competition was kinda mediocre. The favorite, Oddisee lost in the first round! I got there in the second and I heard he lost to Mark Henry (who lost in the second round of our Chop-It-Up beat battle this past May) who apparently served Oddisee. Crazy! Algorythm won. He was pretty good but, I dunno if he should be crowned king of D.C.! lol. Best Kept Secret was second place. They had some heat. Kyle Murdock was playing some left field stuff and the crowd liked him. Young Slim was playing some of that D.C. down south ish...Overall, the Red Bull cats need to pick better producers I think. They definitely passed on a lot of talent!

I went and saw my dude Philopadamus win the Beatgrinder. He definitely has stepped his game up recently. Congradulations to the homie. Lotta cats were out there for the local battle. Live art, hosted by Grap Luva and brought to you by Underdog and Damu.

You can come see some dope producers tonite (including myself) @ Club Felix for the 1 Yr Anniversary BEATDOWN. Shit is gonna be crazy.

Come cheer for your favorite
Come cheer for your favorite
Come cheer for your favorite

The Beatdown in The Washington Post

Vocoder Overkill

Yo, stop this nonsense. I hate when something kinda cool gets abused to the point that it makes u hate it. My dude Balla-T used to love Necro and talk about him all the time. So much, to the point that I couldnt even fool w/his music too tough. lol.

Seriously u motherfuckers cant sing!

And, now w/the micro korg sensations going down... it's about to be 85 all over again. And together micro korgs and vocoders added with 808s- awwwww man. I was 8 years old when that shit was poppin. DON'T DO IT KANYE! Wayne n T-Pain already created a monster. Be original

HypeJuice

yo what the hell are all these "TAGGED" friend requests yall sendin me? I dont get it. Is it spam?I'm not joining anymore -hahah, social networking sites. Myspace is enough for me. Did yall see the Puff video- orange juice n fruit loops- classic. I'm on my next level producer game. If I could somehow find a way to do it fulltime I dont think I could be stopped. Damn. Wish I was 22 again when all I did was sit in my basement and scratch (dope) n bang (whack) beats... Now my cuts are rusty n beats are fluid (for the most part.) Nobody got the style like GNB. StU on his next level shit and b4 Chops went away he was killin the game. Im trying to build with more musicians. I got sum tricks up thy sleeve. I make hip-hop. Not go-go. Not crank. Not crunk. Not pop. Not emo. I got all styles from soul to rock to street to weird but mostly I make conceptual shit. I make beats THEN I PRODUCE! I got a seed on the way. Im loyal to my chick and Im feeling the energy around me. From GNB to to Team Gold Medal to Inner Loop to family to friends!

Anybody bringing negative energy can keep gettin my voicemail.

Word Sandwich

Making a living off of hip-hop is for suckas. Suck my teeth. Tell yer kids to go to school and become revolutionaries. Fuck rappers. Fuck fat, cheese-eatin producers, don't get money over morals, be happy and stop spreading negative energy into the world. Read up on your history, learn patience and don't trust people over 400 pounds. Be nice to all people. Act like you know but eventually you should stop acting. Don't chase fads and trends- create them. Stop watching TV except football and the news. Don't trust the news. Watch FOX and CNN, read The Post and The Times. Eat more fruit and broccoli. Smoke outdoor broccoli. Kill that raid shit u puttin in yer lungs. Stop using "grind" and make me some coffee. "Hustle" is a dumb word and only has meaning in sports or getting back to work in time for yer boss to not fire u. Dig for better samples. Stop using claps. Chop drum breaks. Boycott fastfood. Don't believe in recessions and depressions. Create yer own job. Be hypocritical as much as possible. Love america and love thy neighbor. Guns kill. Dont believe what they say about fuckin cuss words and dont believe that cuss words are used for lack of better vocab. "Go fuck yerself" is a wonderful saying and it sums oneself up at any given time. Greek men fucked little boys. Macedonian men humped their nephews. Persians married their sisters. The middle class is the most naive class of people but they are wonderful consumers. Why are democrats only talking about the middle class? Answer that one yerself smartypants. The Mets will prolly lose the lead and division again. "They" is a powerful word to describe "them." Enjoy yer shitty word sandwich. I made it. Eat it up.

Kingpin Slim "Lookin At My City"

This shit is Fire!

The line about 88-98 is so tru. This joint sums up a lot of what cats feel about the gentrification poppin off. It's not just in DC either, but so many cities throughout the east coast and prolly the west coast. I used to be in the southwest/southeast back in 93/94/95 and wasnt nothin sweet about Delaware Ave and Housin Ave and all the other dust spots!

True Story Alert:

I was in the car riding shotgun when me n a couple homies pulled up to the corner round Delaware n 3rd. I got a couple bags from one of the slangboys and the weed I got was grass (which often times happened) and I told the dude that I was good on that and gave it back to him. He was like "hell naw, you gonna take this and gimme my loot." I said something along the lines of, "nah. I'm good." As I was rolling up my window (manually of course-this is like 94) he starts talkin shit and callin over the homies. I was like, "step on it, roll out." Well, here's where it gets Tarantino- my homie's brother was driving and he was DEAF! He ain't really have a clue what was poppin and we all yellin at him and as this goes on, slangboy swings through the window (as I'm still rolling it up) and cocks me cold in the eye! Then the motherfucker sped off! Hahahaha. Kingpin slim bringin back them dusty memories with this one. We need to do some work G.
